Come enjoy the carefree sounds of summer with Uke 66!
Rick and Karen Maxson form the core of this `ukulele band and have played for audiences in the Midwest, West Coast, Japan, Mexico, and Hawai`i, where they were awarded first place in Group (2019-2020) and Solo categories and “Best Original Song” (2019) at the International `Ukulele Contest. Uke 66 plays originals and covers, from Hawaiian nostalgia to jazz, swing, blues, and pop. This year, in honor ot the Route 66 Centennial, the Maxsons are offering “Route 66 in Word and Song” a one hour program of songs and stories that span the Depression era WWII, and the post war “Golden” era.
Like the highway that inspired their name, they believe that all people can come together, regardless of age or income, and “get their kicks” with Uke 66.
